Position Summary:

The Materials Manager will lead the team in successfully managing an effective material flow for the manufacturing facility to ensure inventory accuracy at all times. The functions include warehousing, inventory control/logistics, scheduling, and material planning.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Direct the establishment and accurate maintenance of correct inventory levels, which includes well-configured, effective, and efficient inventory, planning, and purchasing systems as well as identifying a measurement process to effectively track key process indicators for procurement, scheduling, and inventory management/maintenance.

  • Implement procedures, processes, and daily activities to establish continuous improvement, supplier alliances, inventory planning strategies, supplier-managed inventories, decreased lead times, order qualities, and Kanban activities.

  • Establish accurate critical inventory management data and ensure the data accuracy is continuously maintained for all critical inventory.

  • Manage the execution of scheduling activities to include communication protocols, processes, standard operating procedures, and effective training and utilization by all required associates.

  • Manage and ensure the materials department associates have and maintain the proper skills and level of performance to support the new systems, processes, procedures, and measurement tools to provide and monitor accurate inventory and inventory data.

  • Identify potential issues associated with maintaining and improving supply chain metrics (fill rates, plan attainment, OTD) and driving resolution amongst cross-functional teams. (Production, procurement, compliance, distribution).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement planning systems, purchasing, and scheduling.

  • Demonstrated Project, Program, Process Development, Implementation, and Management abilities.

  • Excellent system capabilities to include Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.

  • Proven capabilities to plan and manage multiple priorities/projects and generate results in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong level of proven department management and business acumen.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated team and individual leadership skills: decision-making, analytical, team building, and organization skills.

  • In-depth interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to relate to all types of people; demonstrated trust and integrity.

  • Robust ability to effectively interact with all levels of associates within the organization to make a positive impact on the operation.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities to include the successful implementation and maintenance of the identified corrective action(s).

  • A strategic individual with good judgment and strong ethical standards.

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
