What we're looking for...

Oversees and manages all shipping and receiving activities for one of Oatey’s Distribution Centers in alignment with the company’s purpose, values, and vision to achieve safety, quality and performance goals while best supporting our customers. This role will foster a culture of continuous improvement and team development allowing the distribution site to maintain a best-in-class status and the business’s future growth and prosperity.

Expectations & Accountabilities...

  • Develop and implement distribution strategies and plans at the site location that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.

  • Oversee the efficient operation of the distribution centers, including inventory management, order picking, packing, and shipping.

  • Manage the daily activities to ensure productivity targets are met for each shift while maintaining quality standards.

  • Manage the allocation of resources, including labor, equipment, and space, to meet distribution demands efficiently.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of distribution processes and implement improvements as needed.

  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize overstock and stockouts while ensuring accurate record-keeping.

  • Be a champion and provide a safe workplace. Ensure all associates adhere to safety guidelines.

  • Collaborate with EHSS manager regarding the implementation of corrective actions and facilities management for repairs and upkeep of the facility. This includes all material handling equipment and infrastructure changes and modifications to the distribution center.

  • Partner with Human Resources on the consistent implementation of policies and procedures including workforce planning and headcount to recruit and retain top talent, attendance, performance management, associate coaching, and leadership development skills with managers and supervisors to sustain a positive work culture.

  • Develop and manage the site’s operating budget.

  • Maintain effective communication with site leadership and other departments, such as procurement, sales, and customer service, to ensure alignment and meet customer demands.

  • Address and resolve issues or challenges that may arise in the distribution process, such as delays, damaged goods, or inventory discrepancies.

  • Develop and maintain a facility cleanliness program providing a “Tour Ready” environment for the associates, visitors, and customers. Ensure standard work is being applied consistently on all shifts.

  • Champion implementation of Lean Principles. Lead the Distribution Center team in establishing TPM, Kanban, 6S, and other lean tools and act as an enthusiastic advocate for continuous improvement. Continually review and improve processes to increase efficiency and improve standard work procedures in adherence with quality standards.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and legal requirements related to distribution operations.


What you'll need to be successful...

  • 10 years proven experience in distribution and logistics management.

  • PC Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • In-depth interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to effectively work with a diverse population, facilitate conflict resolution with demonstrated trust and integrity.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and generate results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated business acumen.

  • Written and oral communication skills with English fluency in both; presentation skills.

  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate commitment and cooperation of others through individual leadership skills including decision making process, team building effectiveness, and organizational skills.

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or equivalent or relevant work experience.
