Position Summary
The Supply Planner's main responsibility is to create the production plan and transfer of materials to support customer orders and future demand. This role is responsible for managing inventory levels and identifying risks to the business related to shortages or manufacturing issues. A plan needs to be developed weekly to ensure that the manufacturing facility knows the priorities to produce. This role is responsible for working cross functionally within the supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and customer service to be sure that service and inventory targets are being met.
Position Responsibilities.
- Develop a plan for manufacturing finished goods to support customer demand, taking into account capacity and manufacturing capability, as well as service and inventory targets.
- Issue PO’s to subcontractors as needed based on the direction of the business.
- Issue transfer orders from the manufacturing facility to the DC and between DC’s to ensure materials are in the right place to support customer demand.
- Drive backorders down by prioritizing production and transferring materials to different DC’s as needed.
- Update and distribute reports related to supply including fill rate, back orders, inventory levels, attainment, and others as required.
- Manage new product introduction from the supply side to ensure launch dates are met.
- Manage inventory levels to support service targets, including setting safety stocks and monitoring fill rates.
- Identify and communicate risk to the business based on shortages in supply, capacity constraints, labor constraints, or logistics issues.
- Come up with solutions to barriers for meeting customer needs quickly and communicate these to the business.
- Prioritize production based on changing customer demand or needs of the business.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
- Strong understanding of planning processes including capacity planning, demand management, inventory management, and service needs.
- 1-3 years of experience in demand/supply planning, production scheduling, or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous supply planning experience.
- ERP experience, SAP preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across the organization both within the supply chain and cross functionally.
- Demonstrated agility in a changing environment.
- Ability to influence others who are not direct reports to accomplish tasks required by the business.
- Demonstrated customer first mindset.
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
- APCIS CPIM Certification preferred.
